Lewis Embling
Chairman
Lewis started model flying 26 years ago learning to fly at North Berks model flying club on a flair cub, over the next few years a selection of Goldberg and Flair models were built and flown. A break from the hobby due to a young family then took place for a few years before coming back and attending a Jet model experience day at Paul Heccles training school, this led to the start of jet flying, and having access to Wroughton airfield meant jet flying was soon taking place. Unfortunately a further break from the hobby took place due to a new business and the loss of the airfield. But 6 years ago with family grown up and the business well established, Jet flying recommenced and now flies most weekends at a selection of sites around southern England.

Duncan McClure
Secretary and BMFA Rep
Duncan has been an active modeller for over 47 years and enjoys participation in many aspects of our sport. Like many of us he started off flying control line and free flight and then moved to RC, starting with a home built single channel radio. He currently flys power sport, scale and aerobatics, glider (both slope and thermal), helicopters and of course gas turbines, which he has been flying since 1998.

Andy Ellison
Events Coordinator
Andy has been involved with aeromodelling since his dad tied a kite to his pram.
President of the Tyldesley Model Flying Club, ex Slope Soaring columnist and reviewer for RCM&E Magazine, Chairman of the BMFA RC Power Technical Committee, RC Power Delegate to the Council of the BMFA, BMFA Safety Committee member, BMFA Achievement Scheme Review Committee member, Chief Examiner/Instructor in the North West Area and organiser of the Freestyle Masters Competition, there is not a lot Andy hasn’t done with model flight. He now shares his time between various clubs including Elvington Jets and the UK display scene where he mentors the lads of Team Renegade.

Charl Van Den Berg
Treasurer

Charl started model flying 23 years ago, starting with a Raptor 50 helicopter and enjoyed this for a few years. Then extended into flying fixed wing and almost anything else that can fly. Around 2005 he ventured into multi-rotor heli development, build and fly, which is now referred to as Drones. In 2018 he attended a Jet meet and just couldn’t stay away. In 2019 he completed his first ever “scratch-build” and it being a Jet, had it test flown and have flown it ever since. He also provides tuition occasionally for Fixed wing and Helis, and quite often assist with maiden test flights. He shares his time between various clubs either as a member or on the committee to support and evangelise our great hobby.

Kevin Watson
Safety Advisor
Kevin started making model aircraft aged just 7 and its not surprising really as he lived adjacent to Squires Gate airport, Now Blackpool Airport. Gliders and rubber powered powered were followed by jetex craft then on to IC powered control line. First RC models were a Junior 60 and a Carl Goldberg “Mini Falcon”. RC was a natural progression even if somewhat unreliable back then. The fact that his parents owned a model shop may have helped just a little! Those days were very hit and miss but so many lifelong skills were acquired building from plans. We are so lucky today to have such reliable control systems and miniature propulsion units.
Flying fixed wing models progressed to turbines in 2003 with an early Wren and the Rolls Royce of engines, the PST 600R which transformed both life and bank accounts at the same time, and still does!
Kevin loves all the technology around turbine powered craft and says the sheer delight of putting a craft together and seeing it fly is hard to beat.
Now retired his interests go much deeper into the sport and currently holds positions on the BMFA Achievement Scheme Review Committee, BMFA North West Area and local Club Committees.

Adrian Hazeldine
Membership Secretary
Adrian is a relatively new member of the R/C Jet flying community, although his interest in all  aspects of aviation has been with him since being an avid builder of Airfix models in childhood.
He took up flying fixed wing r/c models in 2015 (his first model was a WOT Trainer) following visits to the major UK model shows where he was wowed by the large models being displayed.
Following a few years of flying typical club models Adrian decided that he’d like to progress to flying turbine models and attended a number of JMA events as a spectator in order to see what was required to get started.
Following lots of positive advice and assistance from JMA members, he sourced an Xcalibur airframe, fitted it out and began his jet flying journey in late 2021.
